Free and Reduced Meals Application Now Available Online
August 9, 2018
San Angelo ISD parents may now apply online for their children's free and reduced-price school meals.
Child Nutrition Services director Michelle Helms says that the online applications will save families time and make access to meals even easier. "The application is received into the CNS office via the software and is processed all throughout the day resulting in benefits to families the same day they apply for benefits. CNS is hopeful that making the online application available to families via a computer or their smart phone will allow them to submit the information with greater privacy and greater efficiency in the application process."
Previously, parents had to fill out and return a paper application which could take up to 3 days to process.
Lunch prices for the upcoming school year are $2.50 for elementary and $2.75 for secondary. The reduced lunch price for qualifying students is 40 cents.
An estimated 60 percent of San Angelo ISD families are eligible for free or reduced price meals.
In order for a student to received free or reduced-price meals, they and their families need to meet a number of criteria, including household income; automatic eligibility from enrollment in programs like SNAP; and the child's status as a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant or displaced by a disaster.
Applications for free and reduced-price meals are accepted throughout the year and families must apply each school year. To apply, visit www.myschoolapps.com.
